5G-powered new products, services and business models are "new infrastructure" projects driving economy and society's digital transformation. On February 16, a news briefing was held by the Information Office of the People's Government of Henan Province to introduce the expansion of 5G networks in Central China's Henan province in 2021 and to answer questions from journalists.

According to the news briefing, Henan built 51.7 thousand new 5G base stations last year, over-fulfilling its annual target, bringing the total number to 97.1 thousand. It indicates that all Henan's urban areas above the township level and major rural areas had been covered by 5G service by the end of 2021. Besides, the number of 5G users across the province reached 31.84 million, ranking 3rd in China.
