过去完成进行时(I had been doing)

研究下列例句的场景：
Yesterday morning I got up and looked out of the window.
The sun was shining, but the ground was very wet.
上述句子用的是一般过去时 。
It had been raining.
It was not raining when I looked out of the window.
The sun was shining. But it had been raining before.
最后一句是过去进行时，表示了过去的过去发生的事情的状态 。
had been -ing 就是过去完成时的结构:

My hands were dirty because I’d been repairing my bike.
Tom was tired when he got home. He’d been working hard all day.
I went to Madrid a few years ago and stayed with a friend of mine. She hadn’t been living
there very long, but she knew the city very well.
You can say that something had been happening before something else happened:
利用过去完成进行时，你可以说某件事发生在另一件事发生之前:
【havehasbeendoing是什么时态 havebeendoing和hadbeendoing】We’d been playing tennis for about half an hour when it started to rain heavily.
比较have been -ing (现在完成进行时) 和 had been –ing （过去完成进行时）

比较 was -ing (过去进行) and had been -ing:
It wasn’t raining when we went out. The sun was shining. But it had been raining,
so the ground was wet.
Katherine was lying on the sofa. She was tired because she’d been working hard.
有些动词(例如know， have)通常不用于进行时态(be + -ing):
We were good friends. We had known each other for years. (不是 had been knowing)
A few years ago Lisa cut her hair really short. I was surprised because she’d always had
long hair. (不是 she’d been having)
